Hey mate,

Caught your build on PCPartpicker and then really enjoyed reading your build log. I love seeing your reasoning behind each selection and decision and the overall outcome looks fantastic.

I’m in a similar boat at the minute, I have a 265k / 5070Ti system but was looking to move to the M2. My M1 was my favourite case (and I’m not sure the M2 will ever surpass that) but unfortunately I moved away from it as components got bigger.

I have the M2 Grater ordered - and I’ve also got a D12L cooler from Noctua already! How have you found air cooling the 265k?

I’m torn between trying a 280mm AIO in the M2 or sticking to air cooling for now. I ran a C14S in my M1 for years and it was fantastic - so I’ve always got a soft spot for the simplicity of a chunky piece of metal just keeping things cool.

Also really good to see another 265k system. I think Intel rightly does get some stick at present - but the 265k (for the price right now) is a fantastic chip if you want something that is good for more than just gaming.

Thanks again for sharing all of this in your build log, these sorts of things were so fantastic to read years gone by and it’s a shame that it seems they’re less common now - so a genuine thank you.
Rhialto's reply:
Hey, thanks for the kind words! Glad my guide was useful to you.

I kept my M1, and when I got the M2, there was no M3. Whatever, my goal is usually to go smaller, so I doubt I would have gone the M3 route. What I liked about the M2, which was lacking in the M1, is the extra space at the top for fans. You say you have the D12L; you may have already read that for most other M2 builds, it was not compatible. Since it's 1mm too tall, some still have managed to use it, and some have posted pics of heatpipes pushing on the side panel. Because I wanted to use a glass panel for the first time, it was obvious I would not get this cooler, also due to the fact it was 3x the price for not much of a difference in performance for my specific build.

I like the 265K, and you know what, when your comment came in, I was playing Assassin's Creed: Shadows, which I got for free with the CPU (promo earlier this year), along with Civilization VII, which I have yet to play, so it was still a good deal.

Let me know if you post your final build somewhere.
